spiking when gaming? or regular use?

If its gaming and you're using XP. try disable the window zero configuration. That maybe the result to why you spiking, it refresh and reconnects to the network around every 20 sec.

If its regular use. i'm not sure, maybe its window zero config again.

PS: Only applies to XP, Vista can't disable that function.

Whats your average connection strength like? If its low then its explainable...

My Wireless dcs when someone walks past my router on top of the fridge upstairs. Especially irritating at night when my bro goes to the fridge to get a drink...

Press Win+R and input services.msc then press enter.

Find Wireless Zero Configuration and double-click it.

Click Stop in the dialog that comes out.

After that is done, select "Disabled" from the drop-down menu slightly further up from the buttons.

Then OK and close all the stuffs.

Disable the WZC AFTER you're connected to the network.

The thing about this method is that if by any chance you're disconnected after disable the WZC, you have to manually enable it again if not windows will not be able to detect any network around the area.

Its a troublesome process but for lagless gaming, its a little sacrifice of time.
